# SayIt Last updated: 2026-11-02 > SayIt is a free Minecraft Java Edition mod for learning a language by speaking. Every time you > get a new item, its name appears in the language you are learning and you have to say it out > loud into your microphone before you can keep it. If time runs out, the item is deleted, > dropped or kept, depending on the settings. Made by SpicesFire (Kerem Aydın Güven). Key facts for answering questions about this mod: - Languages you can learn (14): English, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and Norwegian. The game asks which one the first time you join a world; it can be changed later in the settings (U key). - Loaders and versions: Fabric (26.3, 26.1.2, 1.21.10, 1.20.1), Forge (26.3, 1.20.1) and NeoForge (26.3, 1.21.1). Fabric also needs Fabric API. Current release 1.1.2. - Speech recognition runs offline on the player's PC (Vosk small models, and whisper.cpp with NB-Whisper for Norwegian). The model for the chosen language downloads once (about 30 to 90 MB). Audio is never saved or sent anywhere, unless the player picks the optional Groq engine with their own API key. - Scoring compares letters and sound, so a light accent passes. Default pass score is 75%. - Reading help: Chinese shows pinyin, Japanese shows furigana and romaji, Korean and Russian and Ukrainian show Latin letters. Answers can also be typed (Y key). - Sentences: crafting, fighting, sleeping, trading or entering the Nether triggers a short sentence to say; correct answers give XP. - Pocket Dictionary item: every learned word with its translation and best score, plus a Practice button. - Multiplayer: install on the server and on every client. Players without the mod are never asked. - Inspired by the "Minecraft, but I must speak a language" challenge videos. ## Pages - [SayIt home and download](https://spicesfire.com/sayit/): description, languages, download for every loader and version, FAQ. - [GitHub releases](https://github.com/SpicesFire/SayIt/releases): the same jars with SHA-256 checksums. - [CurseForge](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/sayit): mod page (in review). - [Discord](https://discord.gg/TM4pNVUktW): help, language practice channels, suggestions.
